Community Hall Trees

A sad update from the Inglewood Community Hall - 3 more of our mature trees have reached the end of their lifecycle and are slated for removal. In conversation with urban forestry and following an inspection by their experts it has been determined that those trees have started to wither and are safer to have removed. In some ways we are grateful to have this dealt with before limbs end up hurting people or buildings but it is always a disappointment to see mature trees go. These trees are a series of poplars all planted around the same time coming to their end in unison. The trees are just north of the ICA office, part of the line along the fence beside the homes on 17th Street SE where we've had other trees removed already.

We will absolutely be replacing these trees - urban forestry will provide the ICA with some species options to pick from and we will be having discussions about which location is best for the coming decades. Try to take a moment to enjoy the mighty poplars while they stand, we’ll miss their shade and the homes they provide for countless small feathery and furry residents of Inglewood.

Please be mindful that there will be contractors taking down the trees at some point in the coming weeks. We’ll be here to ensure the work is safe and separated from the various daycare and day camp kids running around while they saw, chip, and grind the trees.
