Hal Ladner, local artist and longtime supporter of the Inglewood Newsletter, has been hospitalized. His recovery is steady; he is expected to be in hospital for three months. We wish him a speedy recovery and our very best wishes.

I am writing to let you know of the fantastic customer service I recieved from one of your advertisers, A-1 Carline Muffler. I had taken my car in for a pre vacation oil change to another facility. They told me I had an oil leak and needed a new oil pan bolt as the one in my vehicle was likely to cause a leak

Up front let me say I have nothing against Starbucks as a business, in fact I admire them, they built from the ground up and have become big business. But they don't belong in Inglewood.

I watched the renovation of the new Starbucks corner with mixed emotions. On the one hand, the corner was getting a facelift and a patio. On the other hand, Inglewood can now count itself among the 16,000 locations in the world with a Starbucks; there's a thrill. This Starbucks is about as generic as you can get. I am really disappointed in the ICA for approving a chain of this magnitude in our hood. I can only hope it will not be frequented by Calgarians because it is too ubiquitous and an independent will soon take over.
