DP2006-2452 & 2449-1892 15th SE & 1900 15th SE. West Can.
The owner of West Canadian Graphics has purchased the old Landraker site at the corner of 15th St. SE and 9th Ave. They are proposing to build a 4 storey office building on the corner to house West Can. Graphics operations on the first two floors and lease out the remainder to other office tenants. The owner of WCG is very aware of the housing shortage in this city and the difficult time that his employee's have finding affordable housing and is therefore also proposing to build a 4 story affordable apartment building of 22 affordable apartments with a daycare on the main floor. The building would be managed by the Norfolk Housing Association. The Redevelopment Committee was unanimous in support both proposed buildings. The building designs and use of materials are of high quality and will be a positive and welcome addition to the east end of Inglewood. Motion to support the Development Permits with the mechanical penthouse on the office building setback.
August, 2006.
The owner of West Canadian Graphics purchased the site. The Owner and his architects presented their plans to the Redevelopment Committee in August. The plan calls for a 4-storey office building on the corner of 9th Ave and 15th St and a smaller 4 storey residential building on 15th St with affordable suites and daycare centre. The façades will be brick and glass and fit in nicely with the historic 9th Avenue Streetscape. We asked for a couple of changes, which they said they would incorporate into the plans. The Redevelopment Committee was very excited about the plans, which will be presented to the General Meeting in September.
