Garden Path

By: Jo Mulligan

Imagine a place where people come together to grow vegetables, enjoy a beautiful garden, and share a bountiful harvest. As part of the Garden Path Society, Cornucopia is such a place; a diverse community dedicated to providing Calgarians with better food choices. Growing food in an urban garden is an engaging way to reduce our environmental impact while making new friends. If this interests you, come by to see the garden and meet its gardeners. We are alongside the Col.Walker School yard. You can also visit us at www.calgarygardenpath.ca
Cornucopia, a half acre adjacent to our community garden, will be open to the public for recreational harvesting from July 4th to September 15th. Bring grocery bags or baskets and harvest your produce. We will be open on Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Recognizing our Generous Donors: Cornucopia received donations from Adrienne Weare and Carmen Marquis, as well as from Tea Trader, a tea shop above Robinson's Camera on 9th Ave. Ted Jones, owner, is a strong supporter and Paulie Dehaime is a committed volunteer. Because Diane Roski likes gardening and cats, her sister gave her a cash donation to the Garden Path as a Christmas gift. Part of the donation sponsored a Cornucopia plot and part helped the PET project that raises catnip to donate to the MEOW Foundation. Donations such as these help fund our charitable program that provides fresh vegetables for Sheriff King Home, Spinz Around, the Children's Cottage in Bridgeland, and the Calgary Dream Centre.
