The Community of Inglewood Welcomes

Alice Bissett Place is located at 2990 17th Street SE in Inglewood. This residence is the second project by the joint venture partnership between Horizon Housing Society, Calgary Homeless Foundation, Calgary Home Builders Foundation and the City of Calgary. The property will be ultimately owned and managed by Horizon Housing Society although tenants of the building are referred through specific community agencies and not by the partners directly.

Alice Bissett Place will provide 114 safe, affordable and supported homes to people with mental illness, brain injuries, physical disabilities and to low-income seniors and families. By providing long term, supported and affordable housing the joint venture partnership is helping relieve the homelessness crisis in Calgary. The combination of long term housing and support programs gives tenants tailored assistance programs creating a multifaceted support system.

Alice Bissett Place is a 114 unit apartment building with units ranging from one bedroom suites to a five bedroom pod for individuals who have suffered a brain injury. Ten semi-detached two and three bedroom townhouses have been set aside for low income families. These townhouses are unique as they are not only affordable but have also been built green. This includes upgraded levels of insulation; solar roof panels for domestic hot water, heat recovery units, triple-glazed low E windows, high efficiency furnaces, low flush toilets, Energy Star appliances and electric air cleaners.

Inglewood is a vibrant community and will be wonderful home to Alice Bissett Place. Horizon Housing Society is looking forward to building a strong relationship with The Inglewood Community Association.
