New Website - www.icacalgary.com

By: Tobias Crichton

As a (surprising) number of people already know, there has been a Inglewood Community Association website to go along with the newsletter since 2006. And, as just as many people know, the website has not been kept up to date all that diligently in the past; this has been due to a combination of not enough time on my part to layout the print newsletter and update a website every month. With the generous help of Shelley Arnusch taking over the newsletter recently, I've been able to focus my efforts back to the website, but this hasn't been about keeping the current one up to date thus far. Rather more about re-programming how the whole thing works, from the ground up - and, long story short - that has taken a bit longer than I expected, as I quickly overshot what I was able to do on my own when it comes to programming; luckily I work with some talented programmers, so they have been helping me get it all done. The purpose of the undertaking has been ultimately to make the website easier to maintain by several people, vs. just one person. To make this possible, a major upgrade has been required to the "CMS" (Content Management System) that runs the site. The current website has a very basic system in place, and really was only there to make it a bit easier to maintain the site for me as opposed to just coding each page directly; the new site will be much more "automated", and will make it a lot easier to keep up to date. The current website gets a fairly surprising amount of traffic, so it is certainly worth keeping alive. I also plan to use the site to help promote the Community Hall as a great rental space, and spread the word about what a great facility we have there. By the time this article goes to print, the new site will have hopefully replaced the old one, and you'll then be able to read the same articles on-line that you do in the printed newsletter by the time it goes to print each month.

Thank you ICA Board!

I wanted to say a huge thank you to the ICA board for your thoughtful and wonderful baby gifts! Whoever gave us the stuffed giraffe - we just wanted to let you know that has been a huge hit! Lachlan pretty much tossed his other toys aside and now plays with "Gerome"... pretty much exclusively. We also got a particular kick out of the darth-vader one-sie, the parental appology book, and all the other stuff. All fantastic! From both Sonia and I, thank you very much.
